Taboo in Review

We did it again, February has come and gone and the Chickens keep the tempo on high with two more fantastic shows under our belt!

The beautiful and bendy Violet Femme and the mega hilarious CoCo Cinders lead our audience through our fever dream that is the Taboo Revue Variety Burlesque show last Friday night at the WISE Hall.

We brought back some classic group number and some fast growing favourites to our last bill. Here are just a few of the highlights you may have missed:

CoCo Cinders, Doc Chocolate, Chai Tea and Sex Luther showed us how Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion showed us how they really got down that yellow brick road in an alternative ending for the Wizard of Oz.

Screaming Chicken's favourite and most colourful trio Violet Femme, Melody Mangler and April O'Peel perform their soon to be famous Curtain Dance. A number in which they had applied with to perform at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend in Las Vegas this June. *FINGERS CROSSED LADIES*

Melody Mangler who is no stranger to the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend (as she had previously won Best Debut in 2009) also stunned us as always with her solo that she also applied for the coveted title of Queen of Burlesque at Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend. Look at her, she's like an aquatic goddess in all that blue fabric!

Of course we would never fail to pay homage to the city to where Screaming Chicken calls home. Vancouver is a kingdom of cyclists and who are we to ignore this fact? We we lucky to present to our audience: THE BIKE KING!

Whatshername and Aida Manic wowed the house with their acrobatic solos. Ball balancing, stocking-peeling flipping off chairs, its like Cirque du Burlesque!

FINALLY the finale and well it couldn't be called a Taboo Revue without trying to pack the WISE Hall stage with as many performers we could humanly possible! February we danced the dance of seduction (or something along those lines) of the Flowers and the Bees.

Thank you so so so much Greg McKinnon for photographing the madness that took place on stage last Friday! Wouldn't you all agree he got some great shots?

Thank you to everyone who came and joined us in the fun, we love having you come out and play.

A BIG FAT THANK YOU to our volunteers. Without our volunteers, there is no show!

See you all back at the WISE Hall March 11th and 25th for an all new Taboo Revue (you can get yer tickets here)

Love and Glitter,

Sparkle Plenty xox
