Screaming Chicken Celebrates 10 Years!

In 2003 a small group of friends got together with a simple goal - to figure out how to entertain themselves in Vancouver on Monday nights. What started as a simple project has, over the last ten years, developed into one of the largest and most influential Burlesque troupes in the world today.

Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society has produced well over 200 shows including five original theatrical productions; co-founded the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival - one of the largest and longest running events in the burlesque world; introduced over 200 performers to the stage; twice been nominated for ‘Best Group’ by the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas; helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for various charities; helped develop a number of internationally renowned performers; and is a driving force behind Vancouver’s booming burlesque scene.

On Saturday June 29th the Chickens will celebrate their ten year anniversary with their most spectacular show yet. The three act show will feature twenty favorite numbers from throughout their history and representing all aspects of the company’s performances. This will include tributes to their first production, the R-rated ‘Game Show Night’; their theatrical productions ‘Ed Wood’s Orgy of the Dead’, ‘Sex, Violence and Nursery Rhymes’, ‘SHINE - A Burlesque Musical’, ‘Grease Does Greece’, ‘Terror at Rock Out Beach’; and ‘Oliver Fannie’; the graduation recitals for their ‘Becoming Burlesque’ and ‘Becoming Boylesque’ programs; and their flagship ‘Taboo Revue Burlesque Variety Show’. The show will also feature special guests including many of the early alumni and long time friends of the Chicken’s such as Cass King of the legendary Wet Spots.
