Taboo in Review - OOoooOooOooOooo SpoOooOooooky

In case you didn’t already know, Halloween is burlesque Christmas! Where us weirdos can stock up on the essential items to live off of for the rest of the year. So its no surprise that Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society shared the stage with familiar faces and some very special guests at the WISE Hall, Friday Oct 28, for the Taboo Revue Spooktacular!!!

To show off our fantastic showcase of acts we naturally needed THREE exceptionally entertaining individuals to host our packed house! The quick wits of Steve Stevedore, Evil Bastard and Violet Femme made our audience feel at home.

I’m going to be very upfront by admitting now that arranging these pictures were no easy task. The numbers in this show ranged from so many different styles that my OCD was getting the best of me. The results you see below is the Taboo Revue show divided by the Halloweeny/spooky/weirdo numbers and the very sexy... very sexy numbers (**Note to me, read a Thesaurus!)

The night starts in a graveyard where Aida Manic bravely wanders to encounter all sorts of creatures of the night who appears to put newcomers through a very intensive hazing session!

Our photographers caught some fantastic moments that just screamed to be shared! (Get it? Screamed? Like Screaming Chicken... or screaming cuz its a halloween show... I should stop now... )

I’m really digging this women in command of man/beast theme happening here:

The bodacious Star Buxom takes it off to raise the dead. Her voodoo dance and dark magic left Frankie Panky helpless to her commands! She definitely wears the pants between the two of them in this one and she’s not even wearing pants!

RELEASE THE KRAKEN! April O’Peel’s love of squid and octopi (octopusses sounds better but apparently its not a real word!) is really shared with the world in this number. When asking her why she likes these sea creatures she articulately responds with, “No one would fuck with a squid” So true, so very very true!

Calamity Kate is a BABE!!! She’s so hot sparks come out of her boobs and her neather-regions. Try and touch her! Try! Just be careful cuz you might get burned! (Ohhhh awesome cliche!) All jokes aside, I wouldn’t mess with her for the sole fact she willingly takes a grinder to her body like that and can make it look erotic!

While the Voodoo Mama is away the corpse will play or something along those lines. Franky Panky proves that he still got it in the after life. Providing its ok with Star Buxom of course!

Violet Femme was unfortunately attacked by what we all thought was a hobo during the show but something tells me that this was something much more serious. It's a good thing she can adapt to any role, alive or dead!

The always classy and glittery Sparkle Pussies showed the crowd how being dirty is always more fun ;)

Up and coming boylesque superstar and guitar hero Blue Morris represented for the fellows. He prove that playing the guitar is so easy you can even strip and look sexy while doing it! The multiple climaxes in his dynamic number were very much appreciated and panty-throwing-on-the-stage worth!

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK DEBBI NELSON ON BEHALF OF THE FEMALE COMMUNITY FOR TAKING THIS PHOTO!!

Vancouver’s ambassador of spandex Spandy attempts to fill the King of Pop’s shoes when he headlines our take on an all time classic, “Thriller”.

This high action number required much more than a photo montage to summarize what the audience witnessed that night. If you don’t know who Spandy Andy just take a moment and check out his awesome website. He's all about spreading positivity, he really is a ray of sunshine on our rainy city! We love you Spandy!

September Means Back to Taboo Revue - A Photo Review

Screaming Chicken took over the WISE Hall on Friday, September 30 for the opening night for the 2011/2012 season of the Taboo Revue Variety Burlesque Show and does it EVER feel good to be back! The cast was just itching to showcase what they have been working hard on all summer and boy did that hard work EVER show. Labour, love and a little bit of lust... ok a LOT of lust set the tone of this show!

How happy were we to have Evil Bastard and Steve Stevedore host the night? It’s a very good sign when you are watching a show where the hosts also strips down to their underthings. These two gentlemen are committed to make sure our crowds will get all the skin their $20 will give them!

Sweetpea Magee is one Screaming Chicken’s newest sweethearts and can this girl ever deliver. If you ordered a something sweet and silly, she is more than capable to fill it for you. No really, she covered all your fast-food cravings and thensome!

Since Screaming Chicken’s very popular Terror at Rock Out Beach this summer, Little Red Ridesitgood has been looking for inspiration. Searching in ones pants is a great technique and has been a great source of influence for many of our performers. Great work Miss Red ;)

"Pretty pretty pretty" was my mantra when I debuted my newest number at this Taboo Revue. Breaking away from behaving like a jack-ass on stage put me in a space where I had to remind myself to not make a stupid face. I think it worked out ok and I didn't fall! (PS I'm Sparkle Plenty your author of this post WOW!)

I don’t know why I don’t just give Melody Mangler her own tab in this blog, she is a spectacle on her own (Good thing she has a WEBSITE!!!). Once again her new newest number does NOT disappoint. All ready for her performance in Australia for the Burlesque Ball later this month, she debut perhaps one of her most dynamic performances I have seen. You never fail to amaze Melody!

Sweetpea Magee made us go a little maternal with her mega-bizarro group number. She obviously went a little literal with the song title “Push It” by Salt and Peppa. Ghetto-fabulous mommies

Bunny Muegens,

Sweetpea Magee, Sparkle Plenty and Whatsername pushed out some naughty baby boys played by Evil Bastard, Chai Tea, Sex Luthor and Doc Chocolate. Please note: If giving birth to any early 90’s hip-hop do NOT wear tear away denim dresses!!!! Bad babies! Bad, bad babies!

Female empowered, body positive Bobbi Whiskey politely called to the crowd for the Real Naked Lady, to please stand up! Somehow Sex Luthor still included himself in this group.

There were so many gorgeous girls in this show I HAD to showcase them in this post. Going clockwise from the top left photo may I please introduce to you: Damn Booty Dench, Calamity Kate, Veronica Vex, VaVa Vunderbust, Lacy L’Amore and Chai Tea (ok he’s not a girl but he sure likes them!), Lace Cadet, Whatsername and Rufflesilkskin. Phew, say that 3 times fast!

The entire cast of the September Taboo Revue captivates the audience with another masterpiece of a finale number. Melody Mangler created a more artistic and twisted story. Where rampant, adventurous pirates face a dreadful shipwreck to be saved by mystical mermaids... or should I say murderous mermaids. OoooOOoooOOooohhhhhhh tricky lady fish!!!

I would have to say on the sliding scale of awesome (1 being awesome, 10 being training house-pet to pre-warming favorite spot on the couch then cracking open a beer for you) I would confidently say we hit that 10 like a boss!

Part of what makes the Taboo Revue so special are all the generous individuals who share the same vision with Screaming Chicken and volunteer their efforts to support us. With that we thank everyone who came out, we hope you had as much fun as we did putting the show on!

Another thanks goes out to our first-class photographers Greg McKinnon and Ian West. You can catch all the mega-hot mega-pixel pics on Facebook: Through the eyes of Greg click here and here, through the eyes of Ian click here.

But wait, did you miss this show? Well then good thing we have another one coming up Friday, October 28th. Screaming Chicken is going to get a little spooky with this set as we get in the Halloween spirit. Tickets are available now, go ahead and click this link, it will totally hook you up!

Til the 28th my friends, stay sexy!

Love and glitter,
